After the end of 4-months long lockdown in Nepal, Sauraha became the first town to start tourism activities from today. Sauraha is a tourism hub in Chitwan near Chitwan National Park located in south western part of Nepal.

As per the Hotel Association of Town, they will serve with keeping safety and security in a high priority in order to control the risk of infection as there are still 5,240 active cases of Covid-19 (Corona Virus) in Nepal. The hoteliers, where are around 110 hotels in Sauraha are not expecting much activities in the town yet, since both domestic and international air flights are suspended till August 17 and long-route public transportation are yet to re-open their services which make only possible to connect all parts of Nepal. In addition, vehicle permit pass issued by District Administration Office is required to enter Kathmandu from any part of the country.
Hotels are on preparation to announce the heavy discounts and special offers to attract domestic tourists. They will not only attract for the local tourists but it will be a clear message to international tourists that they can be prepared for the vacation in near future.
A Summer- Evening view from Chitwan, Sauraha
Bhaktapur Municipality had opened its six tourist service centers which were closed due to Covid-19 lockdown. The lockdown was started nationwide on March 24, 2020 and ended a week ago on July 21 2020.
The cabinet decisions of Government of Nepal from the meeting regarding ending the lock down were:-
- Hotels, Restaurants will be allowed to open from July 31 2020 but hosting parties and gathering of more people, still restricted.
- Suspension on flights (domestic & international) will also end on August 17 2020.
- Local public transportation to transport within city or district are opened but the long route transportation will be resumed from August 17 2020.
- Health clubs, Swimming Pools, Salons & Beauty Parlors, Zoos, museums will remain closed till further announcement.
