Standard Everest Base Camp Trek

Your adventure begins as we welcome you at Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region. After a brief introduction with your guide and porter, the trek begins with a gentle descent through beautiful alpine forests, crossing several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River. Pass through charming Sherpa villages like Chheplung and Ghat before reaching Phakding. Overnight stay at a cozy teahouse in Phakding.

After breakfast, continue along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several hanging bridges including the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. The trail gradually climbs as you enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where your permits are checked. After a steep but rewarding ascent, you reach Namche Bazaar – the bustling Sherpa capital. Overnight at a lodge with stunning mountain views.

A crucial day for altitude adaptation! Enjoy a relaxed morning and take a short acclimatization hike. Popular options include hiking to Everest View Hotel (3,880 m) for stunning panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, or visiting Khumjung village to explore the Hillary School and Sherpa culture. Spend the afternoon exploring Namche’s bakeries, local markets, and museums.

Start with a scenic trail contouring along the mountainside with breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Descend to Phunki Tenga for a short tea break, then climb steadily through pine and rhododendron forests to reach Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery – one of the most beautiful and spiritual spots in the Khumbu region – and enjoy the serene surroundings.

The trail descends through forests, crosses the Imja Khola River, and passes through Pangboche – the highest year-round settlement in the region. Enjoy magnificent views of Ama Dablam before ascending gradually to the wide Imja Valley and reaching Dingboche. Here, stone-walled fields and breathtaking landscapes welcome you.

Another important acclimatization day! Take a short hike to Nagarjun Hill (5,100 m) or Chhukung Valley for excellent views of Makalu, Lhotse, and Island Peak. This hike helps your body adapt to higher altitude and prepares you for the upcoming challenging days. Rest and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Dingboche in the afternoon.

Trek along a gradual trail with panoramic views before climbing up to Thukla Pass, where you’ll find memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Continue along the glacial moraine with spectacular mountain vistas until you reach Lobuche, a small settlement with several lodges.

Today is a big day! Trek along rocky trails and glacial moraine to Gorak Shep, have a short break, and then continue to Everest Base Camp. Stand at the foot of the highest mountain on Earth, surrounded by icefalls and dramatic peaks – a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After soaking in the views and taking photos, return to Gorak Shep for an overnight stay.

Rise early to hike to Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint for sunrise over Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse. After enjoying the breathtaking scenery, trek back down to Gorak Shep, have breakfast, and continue downhill to Pheriche. The descent feels easier and the air richer in oxygen.

Follow the familiar trail back through Pangboche and Tengboche, with one last chance to admire the views of Ama Dablam and Everest. Descend to the Dudh Koshi River, climb back to Namche, and enjoy your last night in this lively Sherpa town.

Retrace your steps along the Dudh Koshi River through Phakding and other villages before the final climb back to Lukla. Celebrate your achievement with your guide and porter team. Overnight in Lukla – your last night in the Everest region.
